WHISTLER ADAPTIVE SPORTS PROGAM

The Whistler Adaptive Sports Program is a not-for-profit society that provides year-around, recreational programs for people of all ages with disabilities. Whistler Adaptive is a centre for learning and sports excellence that has a local, regional, national and international clientele and encourages independence, self-confidence and self-motivation for all of our athletes and participants through outdoor activity. Our programs are available to all locals, visitors from across Canada and anyone travelling to Whistler from across the globe.

By supporting sport for life, Whistler Adaptive breaks down physical, social and financial barriers, as well as helping to cultivate skills that lead to independence and confidence. We are committed to developing athletes at the grassroots level of their sporting career through to their podium position, and aim to introduce as many individuals with a disability as possible to sport, recreation and therapeutic programming. Our vision is to make alpine recreation in any form accessible to everyone.

The NSMBA is a recognized society under the BC Societies Act.

As such the NSMBA’s Constitution states

The Purpose of the Society is:

COLUMBIA BASIN TRUST

The Trust is mandated under the Columbia Basin Trust Act to manage our assets for the ongoing economic, environmental and social benefit of the region, without relieving governments of any obligations in the region. We are also mandated under the Columbia Basin Management Plan to include the people of the Basin in planning for the management of the assets and to work with others to coordinate activities related to the purpose of the Trust.

FVMBA

The Fraser Valley Mountain Bikers Association (FVMBA) is a registered non-profit, volunteer-run organization whose primary goal is to grow the sport and increase participation in mountain biking in the Fraser Valley.

We actively support the development of new trails and maintenance of existing trails to provide a positive experience for a full range of abilities and styles of mountain biking. We organize group rides, races, and social events geared towards increasing ridership on the trails.

The FVMBA also interacts with other trail user groups and government organizations to develop existing and new riding areas. Our Executive Board includes dedicated, volunteer, area representatives who commit to actively maintaining area-specific trail systems and to represent local interests. https://www.fvmba.com/

KASA

Kootenay Adaptive Sport Association - Through evolution of their events and a strategic goal of becoming more inclusive, in 2018 Kootenay Sufferfest Society became Kootenay Adaptive Sport Association (KASA). The transition was prompted by the expansion and growth seen through inclusive events encouraging racers of all ages, stages and abilities.  It was determined that taking a more inclusive approach was the ultimate way to promote physical activity for all.

Recognizing the need and market potential for adaptable trails Nakusp and area, Slocan Valley and Revelstoke have all constructed trails that are specifically designed to meet the needs of adaptive cyclists, families, seniors and anyone looking to explore recreational opportunities.  This unique concentration of accessible and inclusive infrastructure has attracted the attention of the local mountain biking community and beyond.
